The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry will be taking inspiration from the street this Autumn as it showcases work from some of the best, freshest and most controversial street artists around. The UK premiere of the new temporary exhibition Street Art: Contemporary Prints from the V&A opens on 9 October, 2010 and is completely FREE to see.
This brand new touring exhibition explores the ways street art has moved away from the painted wall into the medium of printmaking, creating distinctive, exciting visuals along the way. Drawn from the Victoria and Albert Museum’s internationally renowned collection of prints, Street Art: Contemporary Prints from the V&A showcases established and emerging street artists, both British and international, including names such as Banksy, D*Face, Eine, Miss Tic, Swoon and Shepard Fairey.
The Herbert has commissioned six emerging artists on the UK street scene to create new works of art that will be displayed in a second complementary exhibition Fresh Paint. Pahnl, SPQR, Lucy McLauchlan, Ben Slow, AsOne and Newso have all created pieces that have not been seen before, and will not be seen together again.
On the 7th of August 2010, a group of Scottish graffiti and street artists came together to create a collaborative mural at the C Venues during the Edinburgh Festival. The artists involved were Lyken, Derm, Conzo, Elph, Rekor and Syrkus.
They were commissioned by Amnesty International to paint the piece, which depicts themes surrounding the 88 Generation Students of Burma. You can read more about them, the project and Amnesty’s work here

The world’s biggest graffiti festival, The International Meeting Of Styles, hits North London this week for a two day visual feast, and it’s all free!
For the third year running the event is hosted by aerosol aficionados End OF The Line, and with promises to top last year’s event, which saw over 2000 people descend on Brick Lane, prepare yourselves for a veritable smorgasbord for the senses. DJ’s will be supplying visitors and 60 of Europe’s most skilled artists with a sound track of funk, hip hop and dub while they work on 12 walls, rotating advertising boards and a pop up gallery; all culminating in an after party on Saturday night (for over 18’s only) to showcase the work.
We've been involved in the art world in one way or another for years now and thought it was probably about time to set something up ourselves.
Our aim is to provide you with a destination to find out about everything going on in UK galleries, on our streets and anywhere else in the world that our wealth of talented artists might have passed through.
