Last month Unit 44 hosted Baltimore’s finest, GAIA, at the space up in Newcastle. Stopping off for a bit from his world tour ‘of sorts’, GAIA is currently skipping from country to country looking for a 2-way dialogue between wall and mural, taking in and echoing the location’s natural narrative.
True to form Gaia made reflection of housing project, and point of interest for the US artist, The Byker Wall. Shortly after he created his second piece of the trip; The Swan Lion Upon Africa. Each wall tells a story and stands immersed in social, economic, and political relevance if one is willing to look.
