After the jump check out a few more shots of the Southbank piece, as well as what Zomby got up to alongside his DDS compatriots Bosh and Cosa at Cans 2 – how did they get involved eh? Great-stuff. We’ve also thrown in a couple of Zomby’s characters from yesteryear as well as a few classic London DDS dubs, so go check it out.

Just got back from the Cans Festival, which like we reported earlier has been completely redone with a WHOLE tunnel full of new artwork.

The organisers have stripped the tunnel back to it’s bare bones again and allowed a whole new roster of crews and artists to take to the walls and completely remake it.

This time though, its graffiti that takes the presidence, not stencils. A bold move, and if im honest, we almost prefer this compared to the previous incarnation. ATG, the London based graf stalwarts have OWNED the tunnel with a London taxi being one of my favourite pieces.

Another London based artist, Rough, along with at least 5 other names have created an amazing piece – a huge wall of freestyle paint and a huge face with letter-forms coming out of the eyes, alongside a mural of Gordon Brown – stating “Never a frown with Gordon Brown”.

If you’re in town this weekend, and at a loose end then we highly recommend that you get back to Leake St and check out the “Hall of Fame” so to speak of some of the world’s best talents.

Gallery after the jump.

So here we have it, it wasn’t a hoax, it really did happen. The Cans Festival reopens today to the public with brand new work from a host of amazing artists. We’ll have a full gallery later today, but to whet your appetite here’s a few teasers.

Unlike the first time, artists can work in freehand or with a brush/can rather than being limited to stencil work.

Artists invited to the event include amongst others Conor Harrington, Shok-1, Xenz, Word to Mother, Maus Maus, V-hils, Sickboy, Zeus, Waleska Nomura, Banksy, Copyright, The Krah, Pure Evil, Busk, Lucy McLauchlan, Mr Jago, Inkie, Sweet Toof, Chu, & Ronzo

As ever, thank you to Ian at Wallkandy.net for the snaps.

More pics after the jump..

Walking through the abandoned Eurostar terminal-turned impromptu stencil art museum that is BANKSY’s infamous “Cans Festival,” it seems that the Bristol bad boy has his share of detractors after all. Just two months after the show’s debut (it’s scheduled to remain on public display until Fall) it seems the local graffiti droogs have made their feelings regarding England’s prince of street art known in the form of ubiquitous tagging throughout the tunnel. Do we smell an old school graffiti war brewing? No chance, that would be way too “street.” The Queen will probably have her royal art conservators on the job restoring the place by week’s end.
