Cloud Talk by Mr Jago at Stolen Space

StolenSpace are preparing for the 1st London solo show by Mr Jago. The show will include new work on canvas, silk, wood & installations, and there will be a release of 2 new limited edition screen prints.

‘I see figures & form everywhere, in water, carpet patterns, shadows, clouds, everything is an abstract character and they are free’

‘Of all weather phenomena, I find clouds the most fascinating, from the silky filaments of high altitude cirrus to the towering, threatening mass of storm-bearing cumulonimbus, clouds are as varied as the new work itself. I love cloud watching, from no where the fluffy mass morphing shapes from a cunning fox with whispy ears to familiar faces ’

The show is set to open on the 12th September through to the 28th and is a must for any fans of his work. For further information, check out the site

We’ll have interviews with all of the artists shortly so check back the week leading up to the show for those. Over the next couple of days we’ll also be running a competition to win a couple of tickets to the show’s opening (private) party so be sure to check back for that too.

Exclusive interview with Ronzo

As we mentioned in a previous post, we hit the Ronzo solo show down at the Stolen Space Gallery at the Truman Brewery. We caught up with the man himself and managed to put together a little interview to give you an insight as to how he works, who influences him and where he sees things going…

First up, tell us a bit about yourself - how did you get to where you are today?

I’m Ronzo. 32, I came to London in 2000 (to avoid paying my parking tickets) from Munich, Germany - where I’m from.  I guess i’ve been always drawing and interested in artistic stuff. I started Graffiti pretty late when It was 1997 and I was 17. My friends had already been doing it for years. They were all really good already. I wanted to do it too because I thought it was cool. In 2000 when I got to London it was sticker madness. Stickers and poster everywhere around Old Street. Less hassle with the police than real Graffiti and easier to make I guess. It was the birth hour of the street art as we know it or at least it felt like that.

Gallery: Ronzo Solo Show at Stolenspace, Brick Lane

We went down tonight and met the main man himself, Ronzo, who has put together an absolutely stunning show at the Stolenspace Gallery. The amount of time and effort that has gone into making this show different and stand out from the rest is truely a mark of a fine artist. I suggest you get down there to see it as soon as possible - as the photos here are good, but they don’t do it justice

‘Disstopia’ by Ronzo

Thursday 19th June, 6.30pm - 9.30pm

‘Disstopia’ opening at StolenSpace gallery on the 19th June, will feature a new body of work by Ronzo. The works are based on visions of an apocalyptic future set in the wastelands of what is once believed to have been the city of London. The new paintings, collages and drawings examine not only the ruins of the architectural landscape as we know it, but focus on the human aspect of life in a society, the day after.

Ronzo is a London-based street artist who made himself a name in the art scene as well as on the streets through his unique characters and figurative paintings. Coming from a graffiti background the city landscape has always been a primary source of inspiration. Ronzo was also heavily involved in the first “Finders Keepers” free street art exhibition in London, which kick-started the then unknown phenomenon now known as street art in the UK.

Current exhibition - La Paz (Will Barras) @ StolenSpace

‘La Paz’, opening at the StolenSpace Gallery on the 3rd April will showcase new works by Will Barras. The show will feature paintings on canvas, linen and fabric in acrylic alongside the release of 2 new screen prints hand pulled by the artist.

“Will Barras’ composition and fluid lines provide poignant detail in liquid abstraction. The subject matter is readily familiar, but captured in a manner that seems to jar time and space with psychedelic abstraction. It is his way of expressing the emotional movements of this labour. It is therapy and pleasure and necessity. Though Will is more passionate about Cricket, and even the art of the poached egg than he is of Skate or Snowboarding, he is hailed as one of the visual artists who best represents these influential creative movements. This is not only an indicator of his prolific work rate and good nature, his artwork featuring on all types of boards, clothes and mural campaigns, but more so of his unique voice, technical competency and sense of exploration.”

Harlan Levey, Modart Magazine

Will is in high demand both commercially and artistically. He directs for the animation production Company Bermuda Shorts and designs for other commercial projects that excite him.

Alongside his commercial work Will rarely takes a rest from painting and exhibiting. Last year he participated in the acclaimed Wooster on Spring exhibition in New York which saw people queuing for over five hours to get in.

He has also exhibited as far and wide as Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Brussels, Edinburgh, Mayrhofen, Oslo, Copenhagen, Bratislava, Cologne, Budapest, Warsaw and London.

StolenSpace are extremely excited to present Will Barras’ latest solo exhibition, and from the glimpses we have seen so far, it is without doubt his strongest collection of work to date.
